This is not a qualifying event, but a Saturday option for those who enjoy it: the Discovery Cyclo sticks to the flattest part of the island and lets you explore the “Grande-Terre” wing, with departure and arrival in Saint-François.
Starting in the town of Capesterre-Belle-Eau on the island of Basse-Terre, the route follows the coast towards Pointe-à-Pitre for the first 40 kilometers, loops through the city, and then reaches the main climb of the day.
This climb takes riders from sea level to a peak altitude of 620 m. It's a two-part ascent covering 13.5 km at an average of 4.3%, with an initial 5.5 km climb, followed by a 1.5 km descent, and then the toughest segment: the last 4 km with gradients above 8.5% on average. The route then continues along the western part of the island, including a shorter 5 km climb at 3%, with the summit located just 10 km before the finish line!
